Deprotecting using a text editor?

Post by kvasir »

I noticed that the .w3x files can be opened in TextEdit. Is there a way to deprotect maps by changing something in the script?
Thx in advance

Lol.. even if you could, what's the point.

There's so many characters in there, it would take years to do.

Technically, you can open any file in Notepad. That doesn't mean it will display well, or that it will edit right.

If you're talking about opening the map in TextEdit... Probably not. It might be possible, but it's much simpler to use XDep than to try to figure out where the protection is, how to beat it, how to save it, etc. If you're talking about editing the .j in something other than JassCraft... Yes, it's possible, but it's just easier in JassCraft, since it's designed for .j editing.

Windows is the supported system for the programs we use. There is one program designed for Mac, which is a program like MPQMaster. http://shadowflare.samods.org/dwnload.html#IceCC
If you used VMWare or Parallels, you might be able to use XDep on a Mac, but... you can't run Windows software in Mac. You need to either boot into Windows instead of OS X, with Boot Camp, or you need to emulate Windows, with VMWare or Parallels. Those are your options.
