Re: Dota own hero?
Note: You're probably going to corrupt the map through doing this.
Steps:
1. Deprotect the map.
2. Open it in WE and edit what you want.
3. Save it, if it doesn't corrupt, thank God.
4. Play the map.
Alt way:
1. Open the map in MPQMaster.
2. Extract the war3map.u, war3map.a, and war3map.wts (this will make sure all the units/abilites have a name when you open it in WE)
3. Insert them into a blank map.
4. Open the map in WE.
5. Edit what you want, add the new hero to the tavern.
6. Save the map.
7. Insert the new war3map.u, war3map.a, and war3map.wts into the DotA map.
8. Test the map, if it isn't corrupted/messed up, thank God.

Re: Dota own hero?
Deprotection: Link
(Lets you view the map in WE, 90% chance to corrupt it, making it unsavable in WE and unplayable in WC3)
Restoration: Link
(Restores corrupted maps, lets you save the map in WE, making it fully editable. Allows you to play the edited map in WC3)
Good luck.

Re: Dota own hero?
Wait, so could you theoretically just deprotect the map until it does not corrupt?

Re: Dota own hero?
No. By 90% chance of failing, he means that most maps won't be deprotected correctly, not that it fails on any particular map most of the time.

Okay, seriously, guys, what's with all these topics in Member's Only, when they belong to General Map Editing/everything else?
