zip a wc3 map? w3x file

I zipped a w3x file, the size didn't go down.
So is there any better zip programmes that I can really reduce the size of a wc3 map, thanks.

Lol, blizzard licensed several compression algorithms and included them to the mpq standard.
It also uses deflate (part of the zip algorithm) so you map is already "zipped".

Why do you need to zip it?

I usually use a optimizer/protector. Vexorian's works, but it has a tendency to make the map bigger, or only shrink it very slightly. I use HeavyLocker, no options except ZLib Compression. Works fairly well for me!

I'm assuming initiald wants to uploads a big directory of maps, but wants to zip them for space//download times. However I tried winzip/winrar/7zip and they are always the same size

In 7-zip, you can choose the compression level. I choose Zip for format, and Ultra for compression, change the suffix of the file to be made to .rar, and tell it to go. I've gotten some hugely compressed files before doing that.
