Hacking Other's Maps

Post by illidan92 »

I myself created the map Undead Assault II with over 400 hours of hardass work and dedication just so I can please others with a map. After that, I see a website like this dedicated to destroying things like that. What did we do to deserve this? Working our asses off for you and what we get back is this? Do you have no sense of maturity or intelligence? Theres reasons why NOTD Aftermath or NOTD II or Undead Assault II don't immediately give you 500,000 experience and the max rank. The least you can do is play the game honestly to repay us for our work.

Thanks for your time.

Honestly I love undead assault...yes I do have a cheated version but is it really that big of a deal? People play your map because they love the map, you love mapmaking I'm sure and I love editing maps. Everyone has something they are addicted to, I enjoy this just as much as I enjoy playing your map so why not pursue enjoyable things in life, it's to short to waste. That's just my viewpoint on this topic and yes we do have senses of maturity and intelligence because honestly someone right off the street couldn't do what we do. Thanks for the honest post though!

If you want something changed ask for it. It is a HUGE deal to me and it breaks my heart to even think of someone doing that. A person's map is their heart and soul, when you hack it it's like hacking through their heart and soul. I've thought many times of discontinuing the production of Undead Assault II just because of all the hackers and dishonest cheaters and in the process not allowing honest people to see new features come into play because of them. Hacking someone's map isn't just hacking their map, it's more than just a map, it's an idea, and when you hack it or cheat in it the idea is destroyed.

Instead of editing someone else's idea, heart and soul try making a map yourself, it's far more rewarding and is an honest and proud thing in the end.

Actually bro I may sound like an ass coming out and saying it so plainly but I dislike map making and I'm VERY bad at it, if I had to call the maps I make my heart and soul I'd probably take a gun to my head, instead I find joy in editing things that are already produced to us. If you're going to call editing a map breaking the map makers idea/imagination then you might as well say you're sorry for buying a computer and editing it to your personal likings. If everything that came into this world through peoples imagination and ideas stayed untouched the way they were then we wouldn't have the benefits that we have today in real life. Sorry but it's the truth, I apologize if it offends you as to what we do but everyone to their own.

Sure, I love map making. While it may take a long time, it's worth it in the end if you make it right. However, I don't think your logic is... logical at all. If people didn't... change other peoples ideas, your computer would be the same exact thing as everyone else's. While having someone cheating your map, isn't very... shall we call it, heartwarming. But that's how life is, if people don't do anything to your map, where'd be the fun in Warcraft III? Life isn't fair, (A lot of us wish it were, not I, however)

"Blizzard support editting the map even those maps are the one that released by Blizzard themself" I think i heard it from somewhere..

I know xactly how is your feeling, u work your ass off, u spend all your life making a map so everyone can play and that will make u so proud.

But..

You have to concern about tese two things, which is completely different.

Editting: Editting the map is like an open box where everybody who have invented new idea put their ideas in.

Think about Mozilla Firefox, why the creater leave it as an open source? Bcoz they know that they are not the best int the world. They need to see somthing different, something new.

Where are new ideas come from? From anybody.. anybody who like to show and share their own idea.

Hacking/Cheating: Hacking/Cheating has only one goal.. to become the greatest, the uberness, the unbeatable and whatever they like to call themself.

You've done your map, you protect your map as the best you can, but 3 days later u find somebody "Hack" your map.
You feel bad, you feel upset, u feel like you've lost your heart and your soul.

But..the question is, Why would you?
Why Icefrog never care so much about hacking?
All he did is stay calm and just edit in the loading screen "always download from getdota.com"

Has he ever come out and cry a river? No..
Has he try to commit suicide bcoz he lost his heart and soul? No..

Why he never do such thing like that?
Bcoz hes already proved to everybody that his map can gain the majority of WC3 players no matter what happen to his map.

Life sucks.. shit does happen.. live with it.. lean with it..

.. or just ... OFF AND DIE
