Help Opening Map (Removing "war3mapUnits.doo")

Post by firexjkxfire »

So I have been trying to open a map. Supposedly its unprotected. This has been verified to me by SOMEONE ELSE editing it and claiming they did so from the unprotected version.

However, I kept getting "Unit data missing or invalid" at about 5700 doodads loaded.

I found here that this can be resolved by removing "War3mapUnits.doo"

However, when I open with MPQ editor I only see one ".doo" file. I used tools W3X Name Scanner, and supposedly the name of this file is just "war3map.doo" (no "units")

I tried removing this. Then when trying to open the map I now get "Doodad data missing or invalid"

I realized I made a mistake and didnt add an empty .rar file so I went back to MPQ and pressed "Add files" then had to make a blank txt file which I then packed with winrar. However this does not seem to have been saved to the map (.w3x) file, as when I tried reopening it, the file wasn't present

....................................

I am hoping someone can just give me a super basic run down on this. Specifically

- Is it important that there is only a "war3map.doo" instead of "war3mapunits.doo"
- How do I properly add this empty .rar file to .w3x file? Will this even work?

For those curious, the map is here: https://maps.w3reforged.com/maps/catego ... fs-cot-rpg

EDIT:

Also getting the missing unit data when opening maps I download from the fulfilled maps forum. Is there something I need to do to my editor to make it possible to open these?
