Syntax Checked?

Post by DarkFlameMaster »

This is one of the facts that peeked my interest.
This is my question for this thread, please hear me out and reply me with your own ideas.

When the Creator finished a map and uploaded it (for example www.epicwar.com),
and somebody does downloaded it but when the user that downloaded the map have
so... many errors in their war3map.j, now what do I do as a cheater?

1) Do I fix their errors?
If yes, (your opinion)
If no, (your opinion)

There are so many errors but the game play isn't affected,
you tried cheating it and it works smoothly but still has some errors
because you don't know how to...

No. If everything works, who cares about the errors.

For me it depends on WHAT it is you want to acomplish and how it works for you.
Most cheaters from the past used to cheat using Notepad++ so they didnt even run the syntax check. (there is no need for it if all you do is add a cheat-pack)

The problem for me comes from when the map is unplayable after adding cheats. This is when I start fixing the errors to help me spot the cause of the issue.

Other times I want to add a CC and after I added the CC (which usually I just code as I go along and making things on the fly) the map wont work.
Clearly I made some kind of syntax error but I cannot find it now as there are many errors and it takes forever to spot my error and re-run a check and spot it again. So it is more of a -this is how I like to work- kind of a thing more than anything else.

But if a map is working... Yeah let the syntax errors be. Usually it is about the hex-decimal $ sign which saves space on the map itself making it smaller and it is more a jasscraft bug than anything else.
