How do I Edit Map Name

Post by CrackUps »

I need to rename the name in the actual .w3x file I did it the other day and in worked perfectly I just opened it in a program called Notepad++ changed the name and saved it and the map still ran fine but now whenever i try that the map cannot open and MPQ can't open it either. I've read that I need to use a hex editor and i've downloaded about five different ones all of them have been useless i change the name in there save it and come across the same problem, please help

I just use XVI32 to edit them... Though I would assume any Hex Editor would be fine...

When you open the map with it, just click on the first letter of it (name)
Then change it to what you want it to be... hit space to delete anything you want
to get rid of... never hit backspace... it will mess it up... :S
