Error Opening Archive (MPQ Master)

So for most maps mpq master works flawlessly but, for some maps I am not able to open them in MPQ Master, sometimes a window pops up and says it stopped working and other times it says error opening archive.

Because I started doing request, but I get error opening archive here.

Can anyone of the more experienced people in this forum help me. I'm just trying to learn about wc3 editing, etc.

Changes a few bytes of data in the MPQ - basically the "container" for all the different files that make up the map - that thwart MPQ editors like MPQMaster from opening up the map, but still lets Warcraft 3 do it just fine. This map can be opened just fine with MPQEditor.

Hey, If possible can you give me a link to one I googled for one and searched here but didn't get any good results.

EDIT: I found an MPQ Editor here: http://www.zezula.net/en/mpq/download.html

It works and I can open maps I otherwise couldn't open with MPQMaster but, I can't see all the files like war3map.j

You need a listfile. When opening up the MPQ, if it doesn't give options to provide one, just delete the (attributes) file and reopen it, and it'll do so.

I did what you told me. But...... What happens if I get this error when I try to delete the attributes file.

BTW you might have noticed that I am trying to edit warlock, I actually don't even know that map but I'm just trying to learn about de-protecting etc, so would that map be one of the harder ones to de-protect?. If there are say different ways to protect maps. Also sorry for the bother, I appreciate the help

Dumb question but is there a program to edit with other than MPQEditor because if I open it in notepad it can't read it.

Also it seems this map is a little bit hard for me to start with so I'm gonna try my luck with other maps for now.

I'l just go to map request and see how many I can do before I give up again XD

MPQmaster, winMPQ

Most of the mpq protection work and are bypassed the same way.
Open using mpqeditor or mpqview.
Extract all files
Import all the files to a new map.

I made a video tutorial about this. Look at the stickies.
Warlock may have more protection but it will let you open it in mpqmaster. All other protection are jass related.
