is it possible to steal maps?
and by steal i mean:
deprotecting the map, editing it and from there making it your own
Hex error fixers dont work for me, so i cant save the unprotected map

Re: is it possible to steal maps?
Did you try Haxorizer v2?
Also you can just change the names from the .wts and war3map.j file.
Although the point of deprotection and this site in general is not about stealing the map as that is just... Well, retarded.
If you want to continue some one else's work and such is what we support.

It's possible to deprotect and restore triggers, but the chances are small.caleman wrote:and by steal i mean:

I don't recommend stealing.
If you want to continue a finished project, just ask for permission from the map owner and ask him to give you an unprotected map.
It's so much easier than deprotecting it yourself and you won't get notorious for it.

but sometimes we don't even who know is the creator, or we don't even know how to contact the creator(since the map is dead)

Yes, it is possible.
If you want to deprotect and fully restore, it will take a-lot of dedication and hard work. But it is possible.
There is a guide in the triggering section I think...? about how to restore the map.

Re: is it possible to steal maps?
I "stole" Shopping Maul (A German map) and made an English version. I eventually changed everything and made Shopping Maul USA with my own stores. Eventually the map was handed over to me and a German guy.
Before I got the original I was able to edit absolutely everything but the coding. I never needed to code anything new, but it was still possible. Basically, the knowledge I used to do this I got from this website. Search the forums and you will find what you are looking for.

Re: is it possible to steal maps?
Try contacting the original author of the map and see if he would give you the original. If it's an old map, he may agree. If it's a new map then probably not.
If he doesn't give you the map, then ask him if you can edit it as a protected map. He may be amused and think that it can't be done and give you permission to edit his protected map. That is your chance to do what you want, and it won't be a stolen map.
