Editing abilities in-game

I'm able to extract the ability data via RMPQex but is there a way to put it back in to edit the ability data?

There is but not using the raw code file.
I think its the war3map.a

If it's slk-form it's easier since you can just edit them in Excel, no conversion needed.

Can i edit the .slk in world editor as if it was .w3a?

If you open the slk file using a tool like Excel. You will see all the data almost like you would using rmpqx. So just edit and re insert

How do you get the .slk's? RMPQex returns .txts

The .slk are files that are in the map.
All the data can be stored on the mpq either by war3map.X filed, or by .slk files.
Simply open the map with any mpqeditor and find the files
