Object Recovery from Protected Maps

Post by emjlr3 »

GeorgeMots asked me to post this topic as a thread on the boards

My goal is object recovery from a protected map - specifically viewable abilities, units, buffs, items in the object editor

I am using SILK found in this link on the XGM website

http://xgm.ru/page/3036

It is version 3.34 I believe

xdep cannot perform this duty on newer maps

in the Config file, changing EXPORT_OBJECT_DATA to 1 allows for object data recovery, as opposed to optimization

now this dumps all the map's files into the OUT folder

this contains icons, models, along with unit data (mostly spreadsheets) and some WCIII map files as well

I have tried every combination of these output files I could conjur injected back into blank maps and have yet to get anything to remotely work as I need it to. Some maps won't load, and the ones that do contain no object editor data.

ideally I would like to be able to view the maps objects (abilities, units, items, and buffs) in the object editor.

I couldn't care less about regions, cameras, pre-placed units and the like

thoughts/guides on effectively completing this process? I haven't found anything through searches or discussion with GeorgeMots

thanks a bunch.

I dunno entirely how to work this, but it should allow you to copy all the units from one map to another.

There's a download link and a link to a manual at the bottom of the page.

FatherSpace: What happened, Bart?
Bartimaeus: She walked out of the house saying that she was going over to some friends, and it's been like two hours, and my mom is trying to get a hold of her, which she's been unable to.
Bartimaeus: I can also hear three car alarms going off.
GeorgeMots: how old is she?
Bartimaeus: I haven't a clue. Probably 17.

Bartimaeus: So, uh, how about you get into the Christmas spirit and put that avatar on before I do it myself and take away your bloody avatar-changin' rights?
UndeadxAssassin: If I thought of a random one...
UndeadxAssassin: Like....
UndeadxAssassin: I'll get back to you on that

Download World editor unlimited and install it. Run the launcher, not the editor and you should see we enchancer (something like that) dont mind the fact that the version of the app says 1,21, it works pretty nice. Now deprotect the map and open it with that enhancer thing. Go to import/export tab and extract the file you want. With the same procedure you can import the file into a blank map.
