World Editor: Original or Unlimited?

Post by houston »

Hello,

I just started to Unprotect WC3 Maps.

Now i need an World Editor.
Which one should i use?

The Original WE or the WEU?
I already Downloaded the aktual WEU (v 1.20) but if i want to open the WEU Editor it says "Patch unsucessfully".
The Patch is only for up to 1.20, but my Warcraft version is 1.21.
Is the Patch still working or need i another version?

BR

It is obvious that using WEU expands the possibilities of world editor but if you have problems with patch or whatever try using WEHelper http://www.wc3campaigns.net/showthread.php?t=87407 or Jass NewGen Pack v3d http://www.wc3campaigns.net/showthread.php?t=90999.

Now if you need WEU try not patching the to 1.20 version, thats the least i can think of

1. WEU has been discontinued.

2. WEU sucks.

3. WEU bugs and corrupts your maps.

4. WEU increases the size of your maps.

5. WEU isn't even that practical.

I'd use JassNewGenPack if I were you.

WEU reminds me of StarForge for Starcraft. Horribly bugged, with low chances of not corrupting your map, but if you could get around that, then it was the God of Starcraft Map Editing. Of course, there are things better than WEU now, so my analogy fails at "God".

WEU hasn't ever bugged my map, I've used it for making angel arenas and it's work perfectly..I like it because if I put a weu trigger in there, normal people who try to open it will get an error saying this trigger doesn't exist, (crash).

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I have no idea what this "corruption" is. And yes, it's a very good reason =P I wonder...I'll have to test something later, rofl.
