I never used antivirus apps but IMO, Nod32 and kaspersky are the best around. Nod32 is a bit more lightweight and kaspersky has a bit better database.

In my opinion.

I hear Comodo is good, too, but I don't have it, so I wouldn't know.

I use Norton and I haven't had a problem yet, but it gets annoying at times because it'll do background checks when you're idle and when you come back, you come back to massive amounts of lag (granted, my computer SUCKS).

That's how Norton counters viruses. Takes away 99% of the CPU usage so it leaves no space for the viruses to operate in.

I wouldn't doubt that. Task manager says that Norton uses up 90% and Norton even says it's using over 95%.

Na Norton 2010, all the way. On my computer during scans in only uses 5% of my CPU and on standby it uses 0%

I did a Month of research and i found Norton has the best Detections but its trackrecord isnt that great as Performance.
If you want best of both worlds use http://www.bitdefender.com/, http://www.gdata-software.com/ (amazingly fast and effective) or http://www.avast.com

The new guy that is amazing and free but lacks alot of features http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/?mkt=en-us

Avast is extreamly user friendly
GData uses the Nod32 and Avast Engines to find viruses
and Bitdefender has been the Top antivirus for a couple years they introduced the integrated behaveral scanner
and Norton is norton, everyone knows norton...

Antiviruses to avoid...
Macafee (Horrable Detection)
CA (Slow Horrable detection rates)
PCTools (Good programs but i dont trust them they screwed me before)
Zonealarm (Great AV and Firewall but super super slow and takes over computer)

Not even my computer is that old, Brat :(. It's from 2002, get it right. And I use Norton 2009 o_o. I still had a subscription on it o_o...

EDIT: Lmao, I typed Brat instead of Bart. Oh well. It's fitting :D.
