I just got to thinking about Black Isle and its games...(Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, etc)...and it really makes me mad, (and sad), that I'll never see a game like any of those ever again because Black Isle's entire studio was shut down by Interplay, and that technology has advanced too far for that to be practical by some crazy developers. It leaves my heart a big, cold lump in my chest when I think about it.
Actually, that's what I think every time I hear the words, 'D&D', 'RPG', or similar things. Makes me feel horrible that my favorite kind of game is too old school to ever be considered for any future development.

Icewind Dale is amazing. I don't know about the rest of those, but it's awesome.
There are still new games similar to them being released, though. The Knights of the Old Republic games were fun, though the gameplay was slightly different. And...
Maybe you are right. I can't think of any other games in this category. That's kind of disappointing...

Believe it or not, Icewind Dale was considered 'very disappointing' compared to Baldur's Gate, and to a less extent, Torment. They're all using the same engine, and made by the same people, but completely different stories and whatnot.Senethior459 wrote:Icewind Dale is amazing. Supposedly, Neverwinter Nights 2 'felt' the same way to some people, but I just can't get my head around it, because it feels so darned different. It doesn't make me think of Black Isle's games at all.

I might try out Baldur's Gate, then, if it's so good that Icewind Dale is disappointing next to it.
Still waiting for The Old Republic to come out, though!
