Honestly, I'm going to say something on his side right now. I don't think that Cagik was planning to break the protection and release the program for free.
Let me point this out to you guys: He never had a password for the old version. He asked for one after he became a mod, but Ozzapoo never really felt like it/didn't want to. That thread ended up just being full of "EPIC PHAIL"s. Why do you think he would use SoftICE? He specifically said

He wanted to use it for himself. As a private tool. He meant that Ozzapoo was being greedy, and not sharing his AutoCP, even though Cagik asked. And once again, as he said, PRIVATE USE. He was planning to break the protection so that he could USE it. Not to spread it for everyone.

He didn't share the program, he wanted to see how it adds the cheats. He effectively just wanted the source code, so that he could see how it adds the cheatpacks.

Even if he was planning to release it to everyone... AutoCP 2 was released for everyone; it has the same stuff as the version he was working on anyway. Why would he break the protection if there was a version with more features that didn't require a password? It doesn't make much sense, and that's why I'm writing this post. I think that he just got misunderstood.

Ozza released the public ACP !AFTER! the whole story.
Probably to make a leak of a cracked version ridiculous.
But back then it was private and cagic wanted to publish a cracked version is public.

I did read your post. I just think that he wanted to be able to use it. Ozzapoo never gave him a code, even though he asked several times. He was a helpful member, it just seems unlikely that he would try to decompile it to spread it around. I know him as a helpful member, and it seems very out of character. Again, he needed to crack it, because he didn't have a code. He just wanted to be able to use it.

But from my biest opinion

Cagik just seem like he wanted something he "deserved" in his eyes, and he wasn't given it so he tried to get it the bad way..
I personally think Ozz and cagik both did a wrong
ozz for not sharing and cagik for trying to steal
