Cn object data be changed in a protected map?

Post by afis »

This request is fairly straightforward, I would like to know if there is a way to change object data in a protected map WITHOUT deprotecting it or breaking the functionality of the map. Specifically I would like to change the cooldowns on a couple abilities. and make a few units attack faster. I know trigger data can be changed in the map.j file with MPQ but haven't found a way to change unit data yet. The reason I do not wish to deprotect the map is becasue when I tried all the trigger data was missing, so I couldn't save again.

Thank you to anyone that helps

Like the way you edit the war3map.j go to the units folder of the map and edit the slk or the txt files.

If there is no unit folder then edit:

war3map.a for abilities
war3map.q for (dont remember have to look into it)
war3map t for items
war3map u for units
war3map h for (same here)

You can do this by extracting those files mentioned and importing them to a blank map. Edit them the way you want, save the blank map. Extract them from the empty map and reimport them back to the map you want with MPQ Master.

Note: If custom units and items and ... etc are missing then use Silk Object Console to recover therm or SOC.

If you want me to clarify something or need more detail please reply.

If I do this with unit data only, will it mess up the abilities? Since opening unit data without custom abilities shows all the ability data as unknown. Will it be fixed on re-import or do I have to import ability data first to avoid this problem?

Thank you for the help :), it is very useful. I can't believe there was such a simple way to do this, I was trying to make sense of those files knowing they held unit data but had no clue what anything meant in text format.

Thing is you have to find each units ID or Raw code. You can extract those using Rmpqex.
