Interesting. In every case, shortening the filename has helped.
Alternate theory: Periods in the filename. If I have "Awesome Map v0.71.w3x", maybe WC3 is seeing the period, seeing 71 after it, and not recognizing it as a WC3 map. If I shortened that, I would probably end up getting rid of the version number, and the only period would be before the extension.
It's a possibility.

I have ha da similar problem... but I actually deprotected and then tested it, and ran it as a test map
It worked fine from then on.

no, it is not because of that, it is because you must rename your crappy download file into downloads, work like wonder to me
