It's generally more stable, comes with up to date software and updates it.
It isn't that bloated and the Linux ext3 filesystem doesn't fragment that horrible like Windows does.
It's mostly open source, I think that's really nice, but more an ideological point.
You won't have to fear Windows viruses anymore - though some Windows apps may not run on it.
And it's the best Linux for beginners since it comes with most drivers and does Nvidia/Ati installations on it's own.
Another nice thing is that the installations CD can boot up a live system so you may use it to recover
crashed PCs or simply try if your hardware works on it. Just try the live system and try it out without overwriting anything

hmm. sounds nice and you say its java-based? strange, but when i click on anythign there nothing happens. im using firefox and have the latest version of java installed. any ideas why it doesnt work? o.O
