How do desyncs work, and what exactly causes them?


The main reason I am wondering is because last week, I tried spoofing the creators to get access to the special admin commands. It worked just fine, except that whenever I tried to pick satyr, it caused a desync and I was immediately booted from the game. The weirdest part is that two of the times, there was no desync, and it let me play satyr just like normal.
So what's up? If there was a bug in the code, you'd expect it to cause a desync every time right? Why does it work sometimes and not work other times? It happened in multiple versions of the map, so that's not it either.

Desyncs occur when the server receives different information from you than it has, so it disconnects you to avoid errors. For example, if you originally had 5k gold and you use a collided map to get 5k more gold, and you don't click me an item that costs 10k, you send information to the server that you bought a 10k item but the server's information says that you only have 5k and it disconnects you. If an ally looks at your gold, it will only say 5k because that is your real gold, the value only changes for you.

I guess that's my best explanation.

Ok, I can understand how that would work if I only had 1 gold (according to the server) when I tried to don't click me satyr. But why would a desync occur if I really did have 2 gold when I bought it?

I'm also looking more on this.

I've tried modifying data and doesn't desync.. but, sometimes it does. Most of my desyncs happen when a hero died.

I hope we'll have a knowledgeable conversation here.

And btw, in what way did you mean spoof the creator? which game is that satyr in?

If the host sends information that isn't true then the player gets desynced instead of the host. If you were the player and you tried to send information that isn't true then you would get desynced, the host won't.

no more if host send INFORMATION that isn't TRUE then desync blah blah blah.

I was like WHAT?, then i was like HUH? and then i got a little bored.

That still doesn't really explain why it works sometimes and doesn't work other times.

And yes, I am talking about Island Defense. I guess my first post is a little unclear since I forgot to say that.
