[Deprotection help]

Post by Risen »

I know this is the wrong section, but I'd like to learn how to do this myself, so I posted here.

This is a korean map supposedly protected by the popular SLK Optimiser. It's supposed to encrypt the MPQ hash table.

But anyways, i've tryed multiple things, i've gotten past the MPQ encrypt and I'm able to open with MPQMaster.

My current problem is the .w3i file, I can't seem to get past it and let xdep work on it. I've tryed a blank one made from WE, A 0kb one, and one from a random map, and it always gets the error:

But meh.. If anybody can get past this, please let me know how.

Fatal Error: Cannot open war3map.w3i
Does that mean nothing to you? It can't open the war3map.w3i. It's still protected; it can't open the MPQ. Try extracting all of the contents of the map, making a new map with WinMPQ or Ladik's Editor, sticking all the files in, and then trying to deprotect. It will probably work much better.
I'm not sure if I can get past it or not; I don't know what map it is. Anyway, if you can't do it, either give us a link so we can try and tell you how, or request it.

I've already created a blank map from WE, deleted its contents and stuck all the extracted stuff inside it with mpqmaster.

But if you want to try it yourself.

It's the original map, untouched by me.

Why are you using WE to make a new map? Open WinMPQ or Ladik's MPQ Editor, go into the File menu, choose New, and follow the steps. When it asks if you want to make a blank map or build it from a folder, give it the location of the folder that you extracted all of the files from the original map to.
I don't have access to my stuff yet; I've almost finished restoring my computer; I'll be able to try it later today, if you haven't gotten it.

I did as you said, it 'fully' deprotects, as it seems.

WE says something about Unit level data, and all the files, whenever I click them, it says they're not recognized as whatever file type.

I attached the 'deprotected' map, and its listfile.

Short Tutorial how it should work:
(I didn't try it but you have the same problem on vamp Fire 5.06 and I cracked it...)
So:
Run the map through xdep...
You will get an error and xdep will create a folder called "....w3x.temp" !
Now you need the little Programm rmpq! It doesn't work like Ladik's and will show and extract you all the files of the map!
(First click some times "Auto Search" in rmpq and then extract all)
Now pack the Files in the "...w3x.temp/files" Folder!
Now run xdep again! Xdep will rewrite the files in the map and you will be able to open it!
Now you have the cracked map! If you don't understand it i will do it for you...
But Learning by doing!
