Everyone,
When you use Xdep to deprotect your maps it corrupts the map.
Thats why when you use Xdep to deprotect the map and actually get WE to open it
things go wrong..
It usually requires alot of work to fix the problems and restore the map to its original state.
Don't bother requesting for someone to restore your map because no one does those kind of requests
as they are greatly time consuming.
They could take days/weeks/months/years depending on the map.

Re: Clear Xdep Problems / Deprotection Problem
Then why are there people saying you can request deprotection? Even in the deprotection guide the creator says that if you are unable to deprotect the map to pm him for help and he would gladly help. Sorry if this is a little rude but I'm seeing a bit of a double standard on this especially since its stated how "easy" it is to deprotect a map with Xdep, and those two mpq programs for compiling lists. If this is unofficial policy maybe this portion of the site should consist of locked threads with guides that say at the very end "If you don't understand this or the process fails you're fucked and no one will help you." just to clear up a few things to new users like myself. /end rant.
P.S. sorry if this isn't completely relevant to your post. I'm running on 48 hours of no sleep and am extremely agitated for no reason and am having a hard time with basic comprehension. Don't take offense to anything I've said.

Re: Clear Xdep Problems / Deprotection Problem
Deprotection is only good if you want to view a map's triggers (Sometimes...)
and such in WE. It does not allow you to edit the map and save changes.
Sometimes, that's all you need, and that is fine.
We will deprotect a map for you so you can view it's trigger.
If you want to be able to EDIT it, then yes, you're fucked.
I don't see a reason for any more posts on here...

Not all maps can be edited when they are deprotected...
maybe a map with very poor protection... anything that is requested here
most likely won't be able to be edited.

Re: Clear Xdep Problems / Deprotection Problem
I deprotected vamp fire (highly protected?) and was able to edit it.
It's easy to do that by hand, just export every file (you need a full listfile) and import it using the WE import manager
to a new map. Add the jass script to the custom triggers and you're even able to add new GUI triggers using WE.
For Vamp I rebuilt the w3i file on my own since it was corrupted. But except for this it was really easy.
So do you have any example of harder protections?
