Unit Restoration

Post by jouster »

Hello,
I tried following the Map restoration tut and found that there are custom units, i tried using ilk object console to reconstruct the map files and hoped to get similar output to the open data restored objects file with the custom units so that i can try and replace the units on the map, but to no avail, can anyone assist me.

I used xdep to deprotect the files and it extracted to the separate directories, i pulled the unit directory and the required files into the MAP directory of Silk and ran silk, which recreated files but the files crash my WEU. Also i used mpq recover to generate a listfile from the map i used and added it to xdep list but i still have unknown files popping up.

MPQ recover doesn't recover the entire listfile... Post your map here and I'll help you get a better listfile ;)

Hi,

the map is DoTA, acutally any version, i like the FPS effect of the RTS and also i like to learn, how things are done, and restoration of the map will aid me in gaining a better knowledge of how the map was created and give me a better understanding of the techniques that i can some day utilize in creation of my own map.

However i am not really interested in cheating maps or adding hacks, but eventually i will like to know how the code is created and the principle behind it.

Regards

Dota is obfuscated, so you may want to learn from another map instead...

Silk Object Console 1.2 and no it did not crash. All you have to do is after you place all the files in the map directory, look for any file with 0 kb size and delete it. It completes but so far i have not had any luck in importing the files in any maps to verify.

The Tools section has it, not the member section, but the topic just above it.
