Hosting Help

Post by xAzerothx »

I saw that uTorrent hosting trick. I did it but whenever I try to host my warcraft just sits there. It doesn't freeze but I can't go back and it doesn't launch the game. I can't repick the name but it stills lets me pick the speed/private/public/advanced settings. I was never able to host before is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

First let's start from what you know.

Do you have a firewall and have you allowed for War3.exe to be forwarded through ports 6112-6119?

Do you have a router and have you done the same as the firewall?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable, DSL?

Post back with the following and I will try to help you get to hosting as soon as possible.

Actually the uTorrent hosting trick as you call it is just retarded...
That just uses upnp to open a port if your router supports it.
You may use a tool called myupnp to open any port you like to. (or any other upnp tool)
I also made my own wc3 mod for myupnp... dunno if I posted it somewhere already...

Firewall is turned off. I don't know what you mean by War3.exe being forwarded. You been portforward junk?

Do you have a router and have you done the same as the firewall?

What do you mean by the same as the firewall?

Cable.

Well since your firewall is turned off we can skip that step. I would recommend you using a firewall for security issues. Comodo has a good and free one.

Your router. If you have a router, which I assume you do since you answered the question, you need to get into the administrator interface and forward ports 6112-6119 for your computer. Your computer has an IP Address, go to run, type cmd, when the black box pops up, type ipconfig. It will give you your IP Address usually it is 192.168.x.xxx.

Since you have cable it pretty much means that your DNS Server switches and you do not need to worry about a static route configuration, so we can skip this step as well.

All you really need to do is configure your router. Sometimes your modem will have a firewall on it also but that is usually the case for DSL.

If you need help, just give me the Router Name/Model number, and I will help you get it setup.

Ok

1. Open your Browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc)

2. Type in the address bar: 192.168.2.1 (I'm assuming this is your default)

3. Ok Password should be blank (This is also default)

4. Now click "Virtual Servers"

Ok, now you should see Description, Ports, etc..

5. For Description you can enter w/e you want, I personally call mine War3

Inbound Port
1. First Box = 6112
2. Second Box = 6119

Type - You can do TCP or UDP, or go ahead and make both if you want. I think you will be fine with TCP.

Private IP - This is the Address of your computer, again go to Run --> CMD --> ipconfig

Private Port - 6112 - 6119 (Exact same as Inbound Port)

Use this guide if needed: Guide

If you need any help other than that contact me on AIM or MSN. They are located in my profile.

I am watching the Lakers vs Celtics basketball game atm, so spam me 3-4 times if you need me and I'll come over.
