Err... That's why it's recommended to click the Chat menu, and switch it to Observers. Then, if there are no observers, then there's nobody to hear you. And you make sure that you say -noreplay. I don't know if it's different in LAN games, I only use them for testing purposes, faster than getting people to join in battlenet if I'm just trying to test something I'm doing to a map. But I've always been able to switch to obs chat even in lan, its just habit for me to switch my chat to observers when I start a game.
By chatlist, do you mean the thing you see in the chat menu? Because if it's to observers, and there AREN'T any, then only you will see that unless they view the replay, which you should have disabled with -noreplay. You can see what you've said to observers, but they can't, unless they are obs. Simple as that. Obs chat is like private. Only you and observers can hear what you say to them.

if they look at what you're typing, then there no point in trying to hide it -.-

if the up key was already binded to up arrow key. There will be a great problem.
Your friend could be using the arrow keys. So they would be getting the gold bonus as well.
If it was activated only for player red, then you must be ALWAYS player red to play the game with your friends.
The only reason your friends are checking your typing message is because you are not a good secret keeper.
Surely it can be done without any message need to be typed to activate a cheat.
Such as, arrow left left right then esc to activate the cheats, and auto bind the up key to gold.
BUT that would only help you for a while. You are not a wise cheater, very soon your frined will find out that you are cheating and they would alwasy check on what key you are pressing.
So, why would we waste our time to make such a cheats functions?

i know i may not be a wise cheater.. but please.. im not saying that i want to bind the activator with some keys.. here's what i have in mind... i will bind -roll 1999?? then it will be activated without them knowing ... just please tell me how to do it... im the one going to type the activator and not bind them... i just want to know that.. AFTER typing the activator key... it also sets the up arrow to -gold XXXX
