xdep-Warning: <n> files have unresolved names even after...

Post by krille »

Warning: 21 files have unresolved names even after scanning
These files will be lost and deprotected map may be incomplete or even unusable!
I take it that means the deprotection failed?

What does this mean exactly, 21 models, sounds and textures/pictures are now corrupt (ie missing)? What can be done about it, trying to scan using MPQ Recover and adding whatever results I get to xdep's listfile.txt?

I want to attempt a full recovery a map, in part for the map and in part for the lesson/experience/knowledge.

edit: If Warcraft can read/see/use these "unresolved" files, why wouldn't you be able to list them so you can deprotect them? As long as it's playable, it should be editable/unprotectable, right? (Afaik maps are not compiled in any way until Warcraft actually loads them?)

Thanks!

This means you're boned. You're trying to use options that just won't work. Maybe delete attirubtes then try it again. But even so you will NEVER restore it completely, because if you're getting this error, it means it has a protection, which has to be deleted, which deletes necessary information.

If you just want a learning experience, then just read the jass. It's not very hard really, unless it's all jumbled into one giant paragraph... In which case I don't know how to fix that.

I've had this warning, and it was just a certain option I was selecting.

Me and several other 1337 cheaters at this site gave up on it >....>

War3map.j - Jass Triggers
War3map.wts - Strings
War3map.w3t - Items
War3map.w3u - Units
War3map.w3b - Destructibles
War3map.doo - Doodads
War3map.w3a - Abilities
War3map.w3h - Buffs/Effects
War3map.w3q - Upgrades
war3map.w3e - Terrain
war3map.wtg - Gui triggers

ex: if u wanna edit the units just extract war3map.w3u with mpq master ,import in a blank map ,edit, export and import it again in the map u wanna edit...

This is the best way to edit protected maps!

If u don't like this way try to make a listfire with mpq recover...

Get the biggest listfile you can that always helps. Worse case secenario you could always get the filenames from the respective .w3* files. It doesn't mean the map isn't deprotected and won't work, just certain things might now have icon and/or models.

Afaik there is no public available method to get a full listfile.
I know some russians made a private tool that should do the job (at least they pretend to) but that's private -.-
I didn't give up, I just don't care about it. Maybe I'll write some tool that gets you a full listfile some day in future.
(would get them for any blizzard game, so that could actually be useful!)
Don't pm me with Warcraft questions, this is a forum so just make a post!
