This contains information on the new DotA Project.

This is divided into sections for organization purposes and easy to find information.

Spam within this topic will not be tolerated. Read the entire post before posting anything.

If you post something out of subject matter then that post will be removed and your rating in the eyes of this organization will drop dramatically giving you little if any chance to join.


With that cleared up, on to the topic at hand.

Introduction
--------------------

Firstly I would like to address the situation with the DotA Development group. Most of you have been removed. We did this because we want to start fresh and have members that are useful and contribute rather than have members that logged in one or two times and disappeared.

Secondly I would like to address that Ghettochild and myself are now leading this group. We be will going at this in a new and promising way. More detail will be provided within the group section.

As of now we are setting up everything to get ready for primary development. We are in no rush atm because of IRL stuff as I imagine everyone else has to deal with. This is not suggesting that we are being lazy, but we are tending to needs that are more important over gaming. We have made significant progress already however and will continue to do so in the next few weeks.

Section I: Basic Information
-----------------------------

This project will be teamwork oriented and will be split into groups. Groups will consist of those that contribute ideas, design code, etc... Now for the basics...

What we do not need:
-Beta Testers

Why? We do not have a finished product at the moment. We will however be recruiting members for this purpose.

What we do need.
-We need members that can suggest original ideas.
-We need members that can code in GUI and/or Jass.

Section 2: Overview of Development Team
-------------------------------------------------

Ghetto and I have decided to go about this in an administrative business kind of way. Be advised that we do not tolerate immature/disruptive behavior. We take control of situations very quickly and effectively when it is needed.

First off, you will not be let into the group because you think you can do things. No, we want people that are able to contribute information/skills that are worthwhile to the project. We do not need people wasting our time. Sorry to sound so strict but this is the way it is gonna work.

Second, this project is team oriented. If you have a problem with something then you need to work it out. You also need to help out your team. There is no "I" in team, and you need to remember that.

Third, Resumes will be required for this project. If you are young and do not know what a resume is, in a nut shell it is an application of skills and experience that you possess and can offer to a job.

Section 3: Resumes

Submit your resume via PM to Ghettochild or Durchdringen, or we may be able to make a new area that only deals with this. We will see about this later.

General Requirements
-We are looking for dedicated people that are willing to spend time and give 90%-110% work effort when it is needed.
-Must be able to attend meetings via chat. AIM/MSN is preferred. (Meetings will be scheduled with groups and will be stated ahead of time to avoid conflicts, if you miss out, it is your job to ask what was missed)
-Must be able to work in groups and work cooperatively with other team members.

Resume for Beta Testers:

-What experience do you have in Beta Testing?
-Are you able to find bugs that most people cannot see?
-How long do you usually test a map?
Requirements:
-Must be active during Beta Testing periods.
-Must be cooperative with your teammates.

Resume for Suggesters (Limited Positions)
------------------------------------------
-What experience do you have in designing/suggesting ideas?
-What makes your ideas unique and original from other people?
Requirements:
-Must be active during periods of development.
-Ideas/Suggestions must be clearly written.
-You must provide specific details in the following:
*How something works
*What Icons are used
*Base attributes
-Must be very cooperative in getting your view across with coders.
-All ideas might not be accepted so don't get upset over this issue.

Resume for Coders (Limited Positions, will be lead by Ghetto)
-----------------------------------------------------------
-What experience do you have in coding. (Presenting us with a default map with your skills will increase your chance of getting position.)
Requirements
-Must have knowledge in GUI and/or Jass. (Knowledge of this must be equal to or better than Amatuer) (Scale: Rookie/Amatuer/Professional)
-Must be able to design triggers that suggesters suggest. (Note that not all ideas will be accepted.)
-Must be able to work solo and/or in a team.
-Must have good cooperation with your team members.
-Must have good cooperation with the suggesters.
-Must be able to find flaws within your triggers/coding.

If you can contribute to more than one field that is fine. When you submit your resume make sure to include all resumes that apply to you so that it is organized and no conflicts arise.

Each of these resumes are divided into teams. Each team will have a group leader.


If any problems arise within these teams feel free to take the issue with your leader or if needed bring the issue to Ghetto or I. If the problem cannot be solved between the group, then I guarantee I will solve it, you may not like it, but the problem will be solved.

Summary

This is the basic concept of what will be happening. So if you do not meet these qualifications do not waste ours or your time. If you are not sociable, forget about it. If you are not good in teamwork, again forget about it.

*Note: The above content may be changed within the next couple of days/weeks. So check back frequently. If something is changed it will contain an edit at the bottom in a color code along with which section it was included in.

If you have made it down to this area of text, then it would seem that you are interested, so if you qualify for any of the above positions, then feel free to submit a resume.

Project is still in full swing, we however do not need Beta Testers. Applicants are still being accepted and we have recruited one individual.

Just remember, make your application well thought out and explain yourself thoroughly. We will not accept half-ass applications. We are a professional organization and want only people that can express and act professional. Know what you do, and Do what you know, it's as simple as that.

Felt like i should ask, uhhh what?

Last i checked DotA still has some sort of dev team (or just IceFrog taking community ideas) complete with tons of forum-goers suggesting their ears off.

what exactly is this?

Could we get some more information on this project, assuming its still running?

Whats the goal of this project?
A better Dota, a new Dota a different Dota?

Will it have the same Heroes, Items or completely different?

How far/much of the project has been done so far?

I don't actually know, but I'm assuming this project is currently dead because the moderators who ran it are inactive and there hasn't been any progress at all since it started.

(Edit) Oh yes, by the way, Durchdringen, this is the INTERNET. No one's profressional.

Ah I see, well thats a shame.
However, a new Dota has alot of potential if built from scratch & properly planned out.

Believe me a lot have tried to build from scratch but none really made it to surpass the glory of allstars, so starting this project from an edited map is much better - for instance think of one thing only bug fixes, icefrom and his team have nearly wiped out all of them.

Project still lives and I do not see why anyone would say it isn't. If it was we would say so. Those who make comments that have no clue what they are talking about should stfu and gtfo.

This is an extremely underground project that won't be fully released until we are done so chill. Look up Project Blue Book and search for some of the aircraft that was released in the early 90's that had been used during the 70's. This is kinda like we are doing.

Oh and Bart, I know a professional when I see one. I get to know people, learn how they talk, how they think, and then judge them based on a certain criteria. I have gone through so many Business Management classes that teach this shit that it has become second nature to me.
