I had that problem with firefox a month ago, make sure you disable all the add-ons, cause thats the problem the add-ons, a conflict issue or somethin. I think there is a way to open Mozilla in safe mode, you can disable them from there.

firefox uses more ram than opera, but opera uses a lot more cpu!
my laptop is really old... athlon xp 1600+ and it can't run flash videos (eg youtube)
using opera, (at least not not smooth) but using iceweasel.
and i prefer firefox cause of all those add ons :D

When i open up task manager and I go to processes it says 99 for cpu. Anyone know what this means?

computer is overworked, clearly.

you have too much going on, or something..

most likely a virus.

May be an addon or like Xantan said, a virus, but you do not want a browser to use up 99% of process or any program at that matter. Just wasting all your resources and causing a ton of unnecessary heat. I would scan for virus or any spyware and if that doesn't work then uninstall and reinstall firefox.
