You will need an autorefresher, unless you wanna keep refreshing manually, maybe burn a few calories. Just make a name that most people would play such as DotA 6.49b apem usa/ca!!!
Or just make a gn with DotA 6.49 apem Noobs Only!!! and I can guarantee a 85% success
Just note that only idiots are gonna join your game, but those idiots are the only ones that don't know its faked.

i suppose dekars idea is better, all you have to do is put a fake loading pic tell em its a beta, edit some stuff, place the beta items or heroes that are in the original map and zap its around the b-net.
One way or other. They both work. On my case, the players on my server don't DL any futher version except it is on getdota. It's easier to get people DL this map. So let's say, it depends.
Btw, last time I checked Luggapls haven't finish making the fake version, the loading page is still on work. Has he finished it now?
If memory servers, Lugaspls has already made a fake dota 6.51, or perhaps, dota 6.49c. Just he didn't edit the loading page and the version figures on the food section. So basically that map doesn't work.
