How to determine why MPQ master is not working

Hello everyone,

I am wondering what the list of reasons why MPQ master is unable to open a map could be (naturally its a map that does run in Warcraft III). I'm a pretty advanced user so if someone could give me a list of what the possible reasons are I can probably take it from there.
