Yes but u need follow the function arg , the function need take enough value to work , otherwise syntax error

I only remember native SubString so i will take it as ezample
Oh sorry , displaytext... is native , not function but people call same in my country ; w ;

native SubString takes string whichString , integer start, integer end

So
Whichstring , start , end is arg

So example
Right Call :
call SubString(GetPlayerChatString(),0,1)
Syntax Error
call SubString(0,1)
Its missing arg
