Maphack doesn't look safe

Post by L0K3 »

I have a maphack that I've been using for the last year or so and today I scanned it with virustotal.com and it had 8 things wrong with it. I like this maphack more than the others I've used because it's light and simple but I don't know if I should anymore.

You've been using it for the last year...and nothing bad has happened? And you're worrying about it doing something bad NOW? I'm pretty sure if it's going to do something bad, you're already screwed anyways, so it doesn't matter and most likely the warnings are false positives and you're fine.

It's possible the virus is delayed, (so as to be spread it to more people, since others term it 'safe' to them, so it gets more downloads and therefore more victims), but a year? A year is just too much.

Most antivirus programs or virus scanners consider anything that has a nature of injection (such as this maphack which injects itself into wc3's game engine) as a 'virus' or 'suspicious file'. It's just because of the nature of the item, not because it's an actual virus.

Thank you all so much you've been a big help. And I was concerned cause I recently upgraded my motherboard, processor, and hard drive.
