I bought the PSU about a month ago, and have been shopping around for a new motherboard and case. I found a sweet mobo on amazon, but something got screwed up in the mail, and it went back to amazon. I reordered it and since theres been a shitload of snow in northern Germany, it took 2 weeks to get here.
I bought a case on ebay. Just a normal case with room for 4 HDDs.
So lets begin the install of the new computer......
1)I unplugged all the wires and need to take off the cpu fan. I didnt realize that the CPU was stuck to the fan, and so by removing the fan and trying to get the little hooks off the clips, I accidentally bent alot of the cpu pins.
2)Mounting the new mobo. I realize I dont have enough of those gold pegs that should be placed under the mobo. Being that I am somewhat of a packrat, I scour my basement for the "computer parts". Well, since I have packed alot of shit to move back to Canada in spring, I dont know what carton is what. My wife seems to have put the packing list somewhere else. Cant find any pins.
3) I make shift a pin from the old mobo support, works like a charm. But even though I bought a case that is a little higher than normal, it seems to be a little short in depth.
4) I go to put the dvd drive in the case, and you wouldnt fucking believe it when I tell you that there IS NO ROOM. The drive hits the mobo, no matter what slot I try. The dvd sticks out about 2".

5) we'll worry about a new case later, lets get this new home theatre mobo running. Next up...graphic card. Well, as you already may have guessed, if there is no room for the dvd, then there is no room for my fucking graphic card. I would need to remove one of the HDDs just to accomodate the length.
6)lets just get this thing running and worry about a ne GPU and case later. So I plug in some power and the monitor and turn it on...no monitor!! I can only assume that the cpu is screwed and now it wont even post.
I guess its time to go back to scratch and install everything back into the old computer to see if the cpu works.
Thanks god for laptops
