Any tips on increasing the connection speed?

Post by Hex- »

I used to have a fast and reliable connection before, but last time my modem just would not work, so I called the one whom work on my modem to fix it. After its fixed, the whole thing had changed. All I get is slow, slow and slow connection! I don't feel like obtains a new connection - my dad and my mom just too dumb and would not allow me. Any tips on how do I increases the speed? It even took like 10 minutes to load this site (with full images and words etc). And so, I cannot even connect to facebook. This is really making me mad, I tried closing the modem for a whole day to see the result, but it's still the same.

Edit : Oh one thing, my connection works better on morning, but became worst when afternoon and night. Where I say "better" meant I can connect to facebook, but I still can't play online game.

I appreciate every replies you guys made! Ah, sorry for my bad English. :)
Regards.

Check the configuration settings, update drivers, etc. I really have no specific advice, as this is a rather vague situation, but if the speed varies depending on the time of day, it's probably due to your ISP being slow, because it gets more traffic during the afternoon and night.

1- I would like to thank you for your advise! Really appreciate it. :)
2- But I don't think I would get that much traffic problem, as I live at a small town as known as a village.
3- I've tried to contact the person who manages my modem, but all I got is "Wait, we're fixing the problems". Never see them come though.

What is the name of you Internet Service Provider?

What's the brand name and model of your modem?

For how long have you had this modem?

Is your computer hacked? lol or maybe virus? When was the last time you format your computer?
