where can you find war3map.j in mpq master if all the filenames are named ex. File000000001.xxx or something. does this mean its protected or something?

its always in there.. might be in the folder, when you open the map with mpqmaster, called Scripts

See if the entries "war3map.j" and "Scripts/war3map.j" are in the listfile you're using. If they are, you'll always be able to extract the war3map.j, as long as you can open the map.

It's in the scripts directory...
You might not have selected a listfile...

When you open up the map in MQPMaster there's a box that comes up that says two things

"Native Listfile" and "Listfile.txt"
There's a box to the left of listfile.txt. If you click that, you should see the Scripts folder.
