My school is going to give me a laptop this monday :D
I have not been told which model but I know it is a thinkpad.

What do you recommend I put on my new computer?

(I will upload the model and specs when I get it...)

also, I will be able to be on the forum almost every day now and I will be waaaay more active.

BTW, from what I know we are not allowed to change the operating system or it will cancel the warranty. I am notsure so I will also post about that when I find out.

EDIT: The model is going to be Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Model 7450CTO

Wow nice 12", same as mine. I totally love that size and yours weights even 200g less than mine :D
You can change the OS, that won't void the guarantee for sure! You can even change RAM ;)
I only dislike that it lacks the touchpad, I really prefer those over the stick things...
Since you can't play any new games on it anyway - install Ubuntu :D

Mine:

Our school has a stupid contract that says our warranty is void if we touch the OS or the hardware :(

Get a large flash drive or an external hard drive. I saw an 8GB for about $20 a few days ago. Install Ubuntu onto that, put all of your programs and stuff on it. Then you can boot into that. It won't void the warranty, because you're not installing it on the system, and you'll still have all the advantages of having Linux.
