Map Protectors and Optimizers

Post by Panda-Assassin »

I was thinking about Protectors and Optimizers and if their effects would stack. First off:

Protectors: Let's say I have Vexorian's Optimizer and Heavy Lock. Would it make a difference if I use Heavy Lock to protect a map then use Vex's Optimizer to protect it? Would it make it harder to protect or something like that.

Widgetizers: If I use Vex's Optimizer and Widgetizer to optimize my maps size, would the optimizing effect stack with each other?

Thanks in advance for helping and your answers. :D

I do not know for sure, but I'm really decently sure that they do. If I recall correctly, DotA uses HeavyLocker and then Vex Optomizer (Or other way around =S).

I would assume it's the same with Widgetizer.

Using both Widgetizer and Vex on your map makes it much harder to deprotect then using either one alone. (Depending on the condition you want to restore the map to of course)

I'm not sure if the size reductions stack. I think that in general they do, but sometimes using both increases the map size slightly. Don't expect the size reduction to be twice normal though, because a lot of optimizers take out the same stuff.

btw using heavylock & vexorian wont change anything, becuz vexorian overwrite the script & heavylock isnt very a protection for me lol, i doubt the protection of heavy lock + vexorian would really change something!Widgetizer got Lot more power hidden in inself

i know some way to make a map unable to me cracked or jjcheat packed or resaved after its lock, but this method is dangerous ^^ its a Save lock protection
enjoy ^^

I doubt that. If WC3 can open up the map, someone else will be able to. Besides, I haven't had a problem cheating DBZ Trib yet >.>.

the lock making the map unable to be saved after u did what u have to doeven if u can open it, u wont be able to save nor add cheat, he will only able to take import files!!

imported files doesnt make a game any good, its only good for the eye candy of the game -My opinion

That protection is one of the easiest to beat, though. The syntax checker in JassCraft would notice it immediately.

HeavyLock and Vexorian are better at compressing than protecting. They can protect, yes, but it's not always effective. Widgetizer is far more effective, because people open it, see there are no custom objects, and freak out.

Every map can be deprotected by simply rebuilding the mpq. Extraction can ALWAYS be done utilizing the storm.dll since it's the way WC3 does it!

Correct me if I'm wrong...
But from what I read, it only affects World Editor. MPQ can still extract and open up the map. JASSCraft can still read the triggers (and since it's a trigger, it'll be in JASSCraft...). JASSCraft Syntax check will say it's missing an endif and an endfunction. I doubt it'll prevent MPQ from letting it overwrite, though. I'm not sure, I haven't tested.
