The Map is protected, simple as that.

Get a deprotection program such as Xdep and it should work

No it isnt if it is protected you get a message saying blah blah will not edit this map is protected. Map was originially protected so i deprotected it.

I get the msg -error 2

So any tips?

Yeah I think its WEU too. What is the error, most likely I can pinpoint the problem with that.
You know why the Yankees always win, Frank?
'Cause they have Mickey Mantle?
No, it's 'cause the other teams can't stop staring at those damn pinstripes.

Maybe he thought it was called Map Editor Unlimited, instead of World Editor Unlimited.

This is very inaccurate, as I've never heard of a map telling me this when it's protected. Error 2 doesn't really sound like a map error. It sounds more like an editor error, perhaps a missing file, or a corrupted one? I, (we), don't really know, considering you didn't tell us when, or on what map, etc., it happened.

Yes it is WEU, sorry

and i tried to edit it the 1st time it came up with needs to be deprotected so i used a deprotection program

I dont get the needs to be deprotected error anymore now i get

error -2 occured when trying to open the map. ( exact msg i get in a tooltip when i enter the map into the search bar in WEU)

I dont even want to edit it i just wish to view some of the items inside.

You could import the items into a dummy map.
