The little uh..preview screen, I believe, that shows the map name/version and such, when you click a map to create a game..I was wondering if there's any way to change that information without deprotecting the map, a file that I can edit and just insert it with like, mpqmaster, thanks in advance

Its the .WTS file I'm pretty sure, if not then its the .w3i file. You can just open the WTS file with notepad or something.

game name of the map in creating the map list:
.w3x
(edit with a hex editor, ie xvi32)

game name above the minimap image:
.w3i
(edit with a hex editor, ie xvi32)

most .w3i's refer directly to the .wts though, so check there.
(edit with notepad)

That mostly worked out, not hard at all once I knew where to look, except there is no .w3x file, to edit the creating a map name. Is there any way to create one? I tried just making a new map and extracting one but of course, there wasn't one =|

Use the Edit button located somewhere in the box of your posts.

Since I've not so much experience in changing map name, I can't really help but please don't double posts.
