A few ways to do that

Code:
SetUnitState(whichUnit,UNIT_STATE_LIFE,GetUnitState(whichUnit,UNIT_STATE_LIFE)-DamageAmount)

Use a unit:

call UnitDamagePoint(whichUnit,0,radius,Point-x-value,Point-y-value,DamageAmount,true,false,ATTACK_TYPE_CHAOS,DAMAGE_TYPE_NORMAL,WEAPON_TYPE_WHOKNOWS)

ATTACK_TYPE_CHAOS can be replaced by:

ATTACK_TYPE_HERO
ATTACK_TYPE_MAGIC
ATTACK_TYPE_MELEE
ATTACK_TYPE_NORMAL
ATTACK_TYPE_PIERCE
ATTACK_TYPE_SIEGE

Attack types used in this function are calculated the same as if the unit really did attack.
This means that if the armortype reduces pierce by 50% and the attacktype is pierce, the damage will be reduced by 50%

UnitDamageTarget(whichUnit,whichTarget,amount,true,false,ATTACK_TYPE_CHAOS,DAMAGE_TYPE_NORMAL,WEAPON_TYPE_WHOKNOWS)

Same as the first one
