Re: World War 3 Countdown
why does it have to involve killing if that person want to live forever. as long as he or she doesn't bother anyone than no one would care. and I'm talking about a very unpopular person that is not known to the public. so why would anyone wanna kill him or her???

That spells jealousy. If someone could live forever, and you couldn't, wouldn't you be a little jealous? And jealousy leads to hate...and hate leads to...well, you get the idea.

Bart hit it right on the head. Even if a person that could live forever was crippled, blind, and deaf, I'm sure that someone would be jealous enough to kill them. That's pretty sad isn't it lol.

Re: World War 3 Countdown
Imagine that someone had the power to give ONE person eternal life. And instead of picking you, they pick the guy standing next to you. Wouldn't you be annoyed that THEY got it, and not you? I mean, you're so much smarter, and so much more deserving, and you should get to live forever. But they did. Well, if I can't live forever, nobody can! And then you kill them. People will never be satisfied with their lot in life. Give it up Hyper, nobody is getting eternal life anytime soon. Besides, what if the person with eternal life was not just going to last forever, but heal quick enough to not die? Or what if the power of living forever went to their head? If they had a position of power, they would keep it forever. It would suck for them too, everyone that they know would eventually die. Have you ever watched the movie... Damn, what was that... Highlander! You'll realize that after all, living forever isn't that awesome, if you're the only one. Plus, bad things can happen when you throw in ultimate power, like eternal life. It's just too tempting for the average human to give it up, most of them would take it. If you had the chance to rule the earth, or to live forever... Would you? (For me: HELL YEAH! )

ok jealously or not, i dun really know, but all I wanna know is can we human be smart enough to make that medicine. and like I said ealier if that person is not known to the public and that person is kept in a secret island and shall never be reveal to the public. modern technology will keep advancing no matter what well unless we keep teaching our kids to smoke weed and eventually life will get dummer.

I think if a person was kept to himself on a secret island and had the ability to live forever he would end up killing himself and I truly do believe this lol. Being by yourself and having no contact with anyone tends to act on you. You start to go crazy and to be able to live forever in this position is just as bad. Medicine will improve and that is for sure, but with that improvement we must go right back to higher invalid. It costs money to research for those improvements and along with that it costs money to don't click me that medicine. It's a win win situation for the medical companies.
Weed doesn't make you dumb. I know quite a few smart people that smoke it. I don't support the drug, but I really don't have anything against it either. So I guess you can stick me in between

Re: World War 3 Countdown
Even if that person were kept secret to the public, there's also another problem with them living on an island... Supplies. Someone would need to don't click me supplies for them, someone needs to send them to this secret island, someone will see the bills for these, someone will have to approve the orders, someone will have to fill the orders... And all of them are potential liabilities. "The likelihood of a secret's being blown is proportional to the square of the number of people who're in on it." -Admiral Greer in The Hunt For Red October by Tom Clancy. That's a great book, I memorized that quote. It's been proven too, I think. Anyhoo, my point is that somehow, the secret would become known to at least someone. At least the guy who created said medicine.
Besides, if we had the power to make one person live forever due to a medicine... Don't you think that we could DUPLICATE said medicine? And why would we give it to a person, just to stick them on an island for their whole life? And if we stuck them on an island... If areas get overcrowded, people will move. Some will undoubtedly spread to islands. Eventually, there mightn't be an isolated, uninhabited island to hide them on. And people would realize, "Hey, this guy's been around for a long time. My great-great-great grandfather knew him when he was a kid. What's up with him?" And so they investigate. And they learn. And then, it's as we've been saying, jealousy. He would be attacked.
And the human brain is an amazing thing. But even if we could stop it from decaying... It's strong, yes. But is it strong and big enough to store information for the amount of time that they will be alive? What if their brain "runs out" of storage? What if they just don't have the space to remember what that was that they were doing yesterday? What if they don't have the space to remember how to eat? What if basic motor skills are overwritten to keep storage for memory? Couldn't living that long eventually kill them? There is not enough space in the universe to store all the information about everything. Here's a fundamental concept about the universe: IT ISN'T A LOSSLESS FORMAT! Information MUST be lost, so as to leave room for new information. History is lost, but we make new history all the time. Priceless artifacts are burnt, we make new things and put them where they were. And eventually, those things might become artifacts. There must be things destroyed to make way for new ones. If you run out of space on your hard drive, there's two things you can do: Add another hard drive, or delete something. With the brain, you would have the same options. But will the former be possible? The brain isn't compatible with flash drives, and we can't exactly install drivers, eh?

Brain can't store everything that why we human created computer harddrives with trillion of gig.
heh I wouldn't mind living forever on an island. eventually I will turn that island into a wonderland.
and weed don't make u dum, but if u smoke it all day everyday and never do nothing beside smoking it than u will never do anything with ur life and that how it will make u dum.

Most of what you just said makes you sound like an idiot to me. We've made computers with trillions of gigs? For one, there's an expression for that, just like a terabyte is 1000 gigabytes. Secondly, so what if there's computers with loads of storage? They can't interface with the human brain, and so we can't store everything in it. At a certain point, there is more information than space to store it in. Something has to go. That's why we can't live forever.
You said if we keep teaching our kids to smoke weed then eventually life will get "dummer". Evidently, your parents taught you to smoke it... It's spelled dumber. Did you ever learn English? Just because we're online doesn't mean you can't do things like proper grammar and capitalization and spelling. Anyway, you said if people keep smoking weed, the human race will eventually get dumber. Not true... Weed doesn't make people dumber, it doesn't make their descendants dumber, it doesn't make the human race dumber. Weed affects thought processes, but it doesn't kill off part of your brain, it doesn't wipe bits of it clean. It's not going to screw up the human race. And why would smoking it all the day, every day do more than what it does normally? Thoughts would be more affected, but it won't make you stupider.
Yeah, you wouldn't mind living on an island. But if you were there, and other people wanted to be the ones there, and they couldn't share with you... They'd want you gone. Haven't you ever wished that you were Bill Gates, or Hugh Hefner? That you were rich like them? That you were Albert Einstein (who made a few great discoveries, then became an alcoholic womanizer. Not the greatest genius ever.), or Isaac Newton? That you were smarter? Haven't you ever wanted to be someone else, someone that was richer or smarter than you? I bet you have. And when a person has privileges, everyone else wants it too. And some will kill for it, especially if they're denied, the whole "If I can't have it, nobody can!" mentality. People are jealous. It's human nature. We aren't going to keep people alive forever. Especially if we hid them away on an island to keep them safe. It would be pointless, what would it do for us? Keeping one person alive will NOT help the human race in any big way, and if they're hidden on an island, then keeping them alive forever is pointless. No, life is just fine the way it is.
Americans would not want to join a world war if it started. Not at this point in time, most of them are sick of the war. America might, if it decided it wanted a part of the action. But honestly, war isn't coming soon. Those factors you mentioned originally are annoying people, but honestly, there's a lot of peace in the world between superpowers, for now. They won't pick a fight with each other for now, too much risk, and it's just a waste. The superpowers have nuclear weapons, and some of them would use them. Ergo, nobody would want to get them involved in a fight, even if you're officially allied. Some people still have old hatreds, or issues with others, and some of those fancy new high-tech guiding packages in someone's warheads could go astray somewhat... A World War is the perfect time to settle grudges. Nobody would be stupid enough to start one, people value themselves too much to be willing to get themselves killed.
