Then you're wrong.
"Losing control" is an action of lowering intensity of control while "not having control" states clearly that there's NO control.
The latter in which you said, seems like an accusal of wc3edit to have no form of control at all.

In terms of definition, you are completely correct.
But in terms of the "net result/effect", the level of control I have overall is pretty much minimal (or at least, definitely not the level I want).

Too bad I play on battle.net with another who pretty much has maxed items with myself included (both still getting those last few things).
