I don't play DotA!
I hate the players. People who consider themselves "pro" relegate all others to the "noob" pile, without considering. If you don't already have it downloaded, they kick you. If you say one wrong thing, or make one simple mistake, you're flamed incessantly, and placed onto everyone's banlists, where it's uploaded online, others download them, and then you're banned in lots of games, just because you don't play DotA often, so you made a common mistake. There's other reasons I hate the players too, but those are the most common.
Otherwise, it's not a bad game. I still prefer Tank Wars though, you can really customize: don't click me a different hero during the game, get different spells, items, weapons, etc. I just find that sort of game more fun, probably because of my love for games like Dungeons and Dragons.

It's because DotA is taken seriously.Senethior459 wrote:I hate the players. People who consider themselves "pro" relegate all others to the "noob" pile, without considering. Did you know DotA was the first map to be protected from WE?
Also, BLIZZARD supports DotA, and it's played for tournaments.
So yes, it's taken very seriously, 10 y.o. kids aren't allowed in.
People play DotA because it's an even challenge, it's skill based.
If you don't have the map, you aren't good. (Not trying to be offensive...)
And yes, you will be kicked, and if you act immature, you will be kicked.
Also, I don't think you're placed on BL for making a mistake... maybe leaving
during a game, but that's it. Or talking a lot of shit. But then it's coming to you...
But no one really cares for BL, you can easily get into a DotA game while on a BL.
I think the only reason NOT to like DotA is either because you've never tried it,
you suck at it, or you don't like hero vs. hero maps. (Like Hero Arena maps..)
Otherwise, DotA is the closest thing to a perfectly balanced map. Someone
will always be better than you, and it doesn't go on what hero you have.
Oh, and by the way, I consider myself "Pro", and most other people "Noob".

I agree with what Krypto said. You probably won't get banned if you make a small mistake, but if you keep doing it or make a big mistake that ruins the game, well then the others might get the Ban-cannon. Plus, not everyone uploads their ban lists and even if you are globally banned, just change accounts or spoof. It's pretty simple, really.

Re: Do You play DOTA?
I hate having to switch accounts, I have to remember what I need to use now. And spoofs are kinda boring.
Seriously, I was banned for dying to a level 13. Me and my teammates were level 8. I went to the bottom lane, because there was nobody there. Unfortunately, we didn't know he was there. I go in, see him too late, and he uses some sort of trap on me. He kills me, my teammates freak out at me, and ban me. For dying to someone who was overpowered.
DotA players are completely obsessed with the game... I play WC3 for fun. I don't want everyone yelling at me because I took a different hero, that I haven't used in a while, or I tried a different set of items. They seriously yell at me if I try new ways. They don't want me experimenting, they want me to do what I think works, what has worked, so that their team doesn't get some extra deaths. Who cares that much about it? It's not important, it doesn't matter if you lose. The original idea behind DotA was that it's a GAME. It's supposed to be played for FUN. Everyone takes it way too seriously. They've forgotten that it's just a game, it doesn't matter if you win or not. It doesn't matter, because you're not playing to win. You're playing to have fun.

DotA is played to win, not for fun. Though, I have fun beating down n00bs.
If you want to play a map for fun, DON'T PLAY DOTA BECAUSE IT IS TAKEN SERIOUSLY.
Either learn to play it, or join DotA NOOB games. (Not being mean, but seriously...)
Please try to get it in your head, DotA isn't played for fun. It's to win.
Either play w/ friends when trying new builds, or play against AI. (Though the AI is extremely good, it beats me...)
Anyways... if you're playing for fun, and you're not good, then I have a simple solution... DON'T PLAY THE GAME.

Re: Do You play DOTA?
Often? Not at all. The community sucks, and so does the map-maker. The map itself is mediocre at best. It's fun, however, to see idiots e-rage over a game when you cheat, so I guess that's a plus, (probably the only one).
(edit) If the map itself isn't fun, then why the hell would you play it? The point of a game is to be entertained and have fun.

Re: Do You play DOTA?
Why do you call it a game then? If you don't play it for fun, if it's such a seriously competitive thing, then why do people still refer to it as a game? People act so serious about it. There's no reason to act so serious about it though, to not play it for fun, as a game. You don't win anything if you win. You don't get anything for having a better win/loss record, or kill/death ratio. You don't die if you lose. Kittens don't die whenever someone on your team makes a mistake, or dies. So why do people act that way?
I cheat just to mess with the players. I'll copy a tower 50 times, just to see how everyone reacts. Sometimes I select someone's hero, and periodically use additem, or spawn something behind them. I don't cheat to win (I usually lose anyway, because of my screwing around), I cheat to make the games a lot more fun.

Okay, I won't ever refer to it as a game again.Senethior459 wrote:Why do you call it a game then? I will tell all my clan members not to refer to it as a game, too.
DotA is the only map that SKILL is required to win.
That's what's liked about it. Either learn to play or GTFO the game.
If all you do is screw around like that, BL is perfect for you.
Though, if they sit there and let the cheating go on, they suck...
Also, cheating ruins the game. There is no fun is cheating.

Re: Do You play DOTA?
There is TONS of fun in cheating. Seeing people e-rage...purposely getting them mad...making them leave...making the game impossible for them, and then laughing at them. It's hilarious. How can you not call that fun? Sure, it's not fun for the other players, but then again, it's not suppose to be. Also, how are you suppose to learn how to play the game, when nobody will ever play with you, because they're always kicking you in public games?
