Title: I Just Lost the Game

I don't know why they would set the preferences that way. I'm guessing it was a registry glitch or something.

Win7 is designed to have backwards compatibility with XP programs, but there are some that don't work.

Actually, ALOT of programs dont work properly.

I have read that vista and 7 were supposed to help prevent cracked software from functioning, and this MAY be the case. Of course, I have tried programs using a serial(not cracked) that dont work, and some programs that you need to jump through hoops to crack, and they run fine.

Yeah, my American Heritage Dictionary (digital) doesn't work. Kind of sucks, because I relied on it a ton.

Now I use Wikipedia, Merriam, and Google, lol

Actually, I should also note, that on installing Windows 7, I installed Steam and Team Fortress 2. When I first started up TF2, and joined a game, I tested to see how high my graphics could go without going under 80FPS.

On the first time, I was able to max out everything, (anti-aliasing 16x, texture filtering 16x, very high model/shadow detail, etc), and was still at like 90.

A week later, I can't even turn on anti-aliasing. I'd like to test an XP boot to see the differences.

How did your system get bogged down so quickly? Was it just because you installed all the programs you like, or did it really accumulate that much crap that quickly?

I really have absolutely no idea whatsoever.

I didn't even install that much...I looked for drivers...got a few tools like 7zip, VLC, Pidgin, Opera, etc...Don't know how it could possibly slow down the system that much and that fast.
