Had same problem.In order to fix you need to reinstall...
Just create a battle.net account, link your cd keys with it and you can download wc3 with np from the web.
Took me 5 mins to download, fast speed

Did you try to update from an external patch or directly from Battle.net? You could try that link Shamanno gave, but it's version 1.21b so you have to update online. I've done that multiple times when I've had problems.

Shammano it works :) now do I have to reinstall both Reign of Chaos and the Frozen Throne or just the Frozen Throne

Download update off the Blizzard site, and manually install it
