A question about extracting an imported model from a map

Post by Nezgibs »

This is not a map deprotection request and im sorry if this is in the wrong section but since this is a request zone i thought it would be fine.

My question is, is it possible to extract a unit model file from a deprotected map if the import manager does not list any imported files? The map in question is DarkLineageOwen and when u open the map in world editor the import manager is blank but i know theres a bunch of custom models in there and i need one for a map i am working on. The model file is DracoLich_High.mdx. If anyone can help me out to get this model that would be a great help and if it is not possible then please just say so. Thx in advance.

Np at all, I'm not really sure where this should go either.

The reason you cannot find the files, or everything, is probably because of a protection program, I've seen this before in a map...

Model files are all .mdx or .mdl files, so, a simple way to get this model is by using MPQRecover, generating, and saving a listfile, then MPQMaster, opening the map with the list file(s) and extracting all imported files and or just everything, the modelfile probably is named what it was of, so you should be able to find it easy, just know its a MDX or MDL. BLPs are custom icon icons, if you want those too you can get them too.

Hope this helps, enjoy!

By the way, you can find mpqmaster and mpqrecover posted somewhere on this board I think.

Hmmm, maybe, I moved it to general map editing, even though its somewhat of a fulfilled request. someone may move it elsewhere as I tend to move things in bad places sometimes

hehe.
