How do connect to Xbox live wireless without turning on comp

I have a wireless connection to my Xbox 360 for Xbox live. Right now I have to turn on my desktop PC and connect to internet so I can connect to Xbox live on my Xbox 360.
Is there a way to connect to Xbox live without turning on my PC?

Well, i have mine connected via Ethernet cable and i have no problem with accessing Xbox live whilst my pc/laptop is off. But i have many friends that also use a wireless Xbox live connection and they also, do not need to turn on their pc/laptop. Maybe if you would explain a little more about which router your using, your service provider and if your using the "approved" Xbox live wireless adapter then i could be of assistance.

Do you have a wireless router, or does your computer have one of them adapters that can act as a router wirelessly?
