Does anyone know some ways to remove the background of a picture in Photoshop? I've tried the ways I know of but they don't always work.

Any easy ways? Ha, no. Making transparency on this avatar was hard enough...

Depends on the background.
If it looks simple, magic wand + delete
If it's not simple, you'll have to render it. I heard pen tool was fun.

The easiest way is to Right Click the Background layer, select "Layer From Background..." and to delete that layer:

EDIT: Moved to creativity.

Well, most of the images I am using have the background inside the main image. So, that wouldn't work.

About the only way you can do it is either manually erasing every pixel you want to be transparent, (make to make it a .gif or a .png), or using the magic wand to select what don't want and hitting delete when you've highlighted all the edges of your image. You'll still have to manually erase some pixels, though. Be warned, though - if you don't do it just right, your image will become extremely jagged.

Ohhhhh...
You want to know how to render/rotoscope (thats what it's called)
For that you need to use the pen tool and trace around the render then make a selection and inverse the selection and delete it.

I will eventually be making a video on rendering.

Yes, that will select everything you havn't got selected (the background) since you went around the entire character. The you just delete that.
