Title: Assassin
I have a 1gb (yes it sucks badly) laptop with vista (which uses 90% of the ram to do stuff) and therefore i cant play any good games (ex. COD 4 MW- For people that dont know what i am talking about (CALL OF DUTY 4: MODERN WARFARE)).

Therefore is there any real way i can speed up my comp without taking it apart and adding a larger ram (which is also expensive)??

Well, you could change the theme to Windows 98, You know the gray old boring theme with just sqaures.

If you want more tips i suggest you look it up on Youtube, they got everything there ;-)

Turning off visual effects, killing unnecessary processes and stopping unneeded programs from loading at startup, stopping your AV from doing any scans (that doesn't mean turn it off, especially your firewall, just pause any scans it's doing, because they tend to take a lot of system resources).

Worse comes to worse, RAM is generally cheap and relatively easy to access in laptops

Try to increase your virtual memory. You can do this:

- Right click 'Computer' --> Properties
- Change settings (bottom)
- Advanced
- First option, should be called "Prestations", or similair
- Advanced
- Select "Adjust" (Virtual Memory)
- Fill in the desired amount of memory.
- Hit "SET"
- Hit "OK"
- Restart

Note: This is slower than real RAM, but this can help a lot when on 1 GB :)

I'm using the Dutch version of Vista, so I hope I translated everything properly.

You need to get Windows 7 or XP. Vista, itself, is terrible no matter what.
