I see characters and levels below everyone's name, how does that work, and is it possible for me to get one too? and what are they for?

yeh the character thing is interesting, i wish though they would add more races and classes and elements, i mean i have ideas i would love sharing them but i do not know the whole thing, or how long it would take or even if they wanted my input. but that of course would be the question now wouldnt it?
