Can you post the restored map here after following the tutorials? I'll take a look at the .slk objects.

Are you talking about the tutorial that was linked earlier in this thread or a different one?

Try rebuilding the MPQ like this: http://forum.wc3edit.net/tutorials-chea ... 34876.html
That will make it editable
Then post the rebuild MPQ and I'll take a look at the objects

Re: I am at a loss with editing the .w3ufile
Ok I think I followed the steps correctly. Only problem was there was A LOT of unknown files still. But I deleted them all like the guide said. Here is the mpq file. Most of the slk files are in the unit folder but there is one more in the splats folder.
I tried uploading the file but it said "The extension mpq is not allowed" so I uploaded it to my google drive. here is a link to it there.

Thanks again.

Try launching it in WC3 now (rename it to .w3x) and see if it works with no edits made

No luck. Game launches but it is unplayble. Like 1 fps every 20 seconds

Re: I am at a loss with editing the .w3ufile
It seems there's an anticheat written to stop people from rebuilding the MPQ then, it has nothing to do with the SLK objects.
If I was looking for this anticheat, I'd check to see if it's attempting to load some kind of resource from the MPQ (that usually exists, but doesn't exist if you rebuild it) and then doing some kind of big loop until it is able to load it, which slows down the game. This could be bypassed by reading the code and then getting that resource in your listfile.
Alternatively, it might be possible to fix the original using a hex editor.

Would you be willing to do that? All of that is brand new territory for me, I wouldn't even know where to start

The issue is being caused by UnitUI.slk. Just compare the original and the converted one. They are different.

You guys are such studs when it comes to this stuff, blows my mind.
I am getting rid of the .slk files I thought though in order to edit the map aren't I?
Or do I just keep them all there and bring over a none changed unitui?
If I just extract the unitui from the map as well would that cause changes?
Sorry for all of the questions.
